Herbal Dispensary – Chicago, IL

Introduction

Mintropy MEP Company was tasked with providing Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Detection design/engineering services for the phased expansion of the MOCA dispensary. The expansion involved the renovation of the adjacent space and aimed to upgrade the existing systems and facilities to meet the specific requirements of a dispensary.

Mechanical

The mechanical scope of the project included documenting the existing conditions of the expansion space. Mintropy MEP then designed a new roof top unit type (single zone, local controls) system, new ductwork distribution from roof top units, new toilet and general exhaust and distribution, and a new gas distribution system. Mintropy also evaluated the vault space for a dedicated HVAC system design and odor controls.

Electrical

The project involved lighting system circuiting, calculations to certify Energy Code compliance, circuiting for new building-mounted exterior lighting and signage, a fire detection and alarm system performance specification, emergency battery units for exit signs and emergency egress lighting, and fire alarm speakers/strobes.

Plumbing

The provision of a complete design of sanitary drainage and vent system, a complete domestic water (cold and hot) system, riser diagrams, and engineered a recirculation system. Also, provided plumbing fixture specifications.
